Eugenia Kim came from a family where most of them dealt with sick people, but not her as she was going to be dealing with, perhaps, sick dressing. So it was expected from her to be a doctor and thinking about doing anything else would be considered odd to say the least.

"For the first six months, my parents absolutely didn't support me", she recalled. But this resistance did not stop her from achieving her ambitions and goals in life. The beginning of her carrier is full of disappointments; the disappointments that actually proved very fortunate for her later on in her carrier. She started her carrier as an assistant in Allure magazine but got fired from there. This made her believe that she needs a radical change and as soon as she was convinced of this idea she decided to have a haircut which turned out so bad that she had to shave her head. Shaving of her head further led her to develop or design a hat for herself and this is where it all started and she never looked back from then on. The hat became so popular that she one day received an order from Barneys New York. A brand was born and a star was going to emerge on the arena of fashion. Since then she has never looked back. Her hats have featured in numerous fashion spreads and her pieces have recently shined on the cover of W and Vogue magazines.

"We're doing a combination of wearable and things that are not on the market, pushing the envelope a bit," Eugenia Kim says.
